In depth

Verdict

Spanish Ace, Aegean Dancer and Bond Boy have all got solid claims on form that they have shown previously this season but all have low draws to overcome and it is generally best to stick with those with a high berth over Beverley's five furlongs so preference is for Glasshoughton. Michael Dods has not been firing in winners with any great regularity but his gelding could hardly be better drawn, has ideal ground conditions and has been given a chance by the handicapper on the pick of last season's form. Kevin Ryan's Playful Dane has a decent draw but did so when running here last time and he is hard to recommend on that evidence. Sunrise Safari is probably better over further, while Wanchai Lad is another that may do better over a longer trip and may be best watched today. Bo McGinty was well held on his two starts this season so it may be worth taking a chance on the fitness of Glasshoughton.
