Verdict

SMALLJOHN is in good form and is taken to land this while Amethyst Dawn, Dabbers Ridge and Carnivore are others with claims. The Bryan Smart-trained pick is 3lbs higher than when seeing off Nufoudh at Musselburgh last time and is very much a specialist over this trip. He acts on any ground with good in the description and has won from higher marks before on the Polytrack, so we'll back him to follow-up. Amethyst Dawn was a fast ground scorer over course and distance last month and will appreciate the return both to this track and now dropped once more to this trip. From 2lbs higher she has strong claims. Ian McInnes saddles Dabbers Ridge and the eight-year-old goes very well at the track. The ground won't be a problem and he stays further than this, and he is very competitively handicapped. Carnivore has conditions and trip to his liking, though he may just need a drop in the weights and preference is for Smalljohn.
