Verdict

Abbey Vale looked as though he would be suited by a test of stamina after his first two starts but weakened over 7f at Naas last time. Caged Lightning also faded over that trip at Down Royal but had handled softer ground well earlier and any rain will aid his cause. Approval Given never really got involved in that latter race but showed improved form in a much better event at Leopardstown and looks a threat to ELLEVAL, who gets the nod. David Marnane's colt made a bright start behind Hard Yards at Roscommon but looked ill at ease in very testing ground at Galway on his next start. Providing the going doesn't turn soft he can confirm the good impression given on his debut.
