In depth

Verdict

GILDED AGE has a modicum of decent form to his name and could prove too good for his rivals here, but we'll also consider the claims of Princess Flame and Bolanderi. Alan King's gelding has plenty in hand at the weights with most here, and it's a step back up in trip to the distance at which he broke his maiden tag at Newcastle in April. He looks an improving sort and seems to be well handicapped, in a field that can be described as moderate. Princess Flame hasn't had a great season, but if able to show her true ability should be competitive. She's done well in the past at Pontefract, and she should be able to cope with the stiff uphill finish here. Bolanderi's dropped a couple of pounds following a fourth at Wolverhampton but may need a little more help from the handicapper. Top weight Kevkat makes little appeal; a rare flat runner for David Pipe, he's yet to reproduce his Irish form here either on the flat or over fences. Any support in the market could be significant though. Our support though goes to Gilded Age.
