In depth

Verdict

Quite a lot of form to work with in this opening maiden, some of it better than others, however we will side with Safari Guide ahead of Mr Flannegan and Riflessione. Peter Winkworth has his horses in good form and this Primo Valentino colt made a pleasing start to his career when third of eleven at Windsor. That doesn't look the worst maiden in the world and sure to have learnt plenty from the run, he can get his head in front today. Riflessione has had plenty of chances to impress but hasn't, whilst My Best Man is starting to look hard to win with. Rockfella improved markedly from first to second runs, whilst we may see bold shows from the once-raced quartet of Edgeworth, Ziggy Lee, Lady Mulligan and Perfect Friend. A tricky puzzle, but we will roar on Safari Guide.
