Verdict

COOL STRIKE represents a yard going great guns and is selected as the better option over Peter Grimes and Spinning Waters. The last named has very few miles on the clock and has improved since being stepped up in trip. However, the handicapper now appears to be in charge and the son of Vettori looks a risky proposition even in a field of this size. Peter Grimes has a similar profile and has been a shade disappointing in each of his last two starts. The ground also seems to have gone against Harry Dunlop's charge and he appears to need luck on his side under top weight. Therefore, we turn to Cool Strike, who posted a much improved effort at Goodwood last time out. The fitting of a visor seemed to bring him to life and, assuming the headgear has the same effect, Cool Strike can be hard to beat at this level.
