In depth

Verdict

A tight contest on paper but on the track ROUND WON is taken to emerge in front, while Lago Indiano and Kerchak are among others considered. The William Knight-trained pick won a 10f Folkestone maiden with some authority last time and has been raised just 2lbs for that for his handicap debut. The drop back to this trip won't be a problem if that latest effort is anything to go by, as he showed plenty of speed, and with no concerns over the ground he is selected. Lago Indiano has made the frame in five successive maidens and just failed to get home over the easy 1m 1f at Epsom last time. The drop to this trip looks worth a try and if he goes on this ground he should be bang there. Kerchak was perhaps flattered to be only a length in arrears at Windsor last month but from 1lb lower he is nonetheless respected here, representing a shrewd yard. Majd fits a similar profile, while Lingfield Polytrack scorer Purple Gallery showed that he can be competitive from this mark of 75 at Southwell last time and his presence is a concern. Even so, we can only pick one and that one is Round Won.
