In depth

Verdict

The Jailer gets a speculative vote in an open contest, in which the likes of Briery Blaze, Lay The Cash and Meadfoot also have claims. This is a moderate affair on paper, and absolutely nothing can be backed with confidence, but The Jailer, who has gone 17 career races without a win yet, may be the one to side with. John O'Shea's four-year-old has gone well in two visits here in the past, and was only beaten half-a-length by the odds-on Sawwah in a Brighton claimer in June. Michael Geran rode her then and was on board the filly again when the pair finished fourth in classified contest at Musselburgh. She has been rested since, so lines up fresher than most, and will not mind the return to faster underfoot conditions. Briery Blaze is also still a maiden, but has the odd placed effort to her name, while Lay The Cash has been out of sorts lately but was second to Expensive Art in a class 5 handicap at Lingfield in July, so has a squeak. Meadfoot drops to this grade after contesting claimers, and so is yet another to consider, but the pin comes down on The Jailer, who can benefit from her rider's claim.
