In depth

Verdict

Beherayn showed decent form in two bumpers last season and has to be respected on his first start over hurdles but lack of a recent run is of concern as to a certain extent is lack of hurdling experience and preference is for Piamontini, with Abstract Art rated the pick of the remainder. The selection also lacks a run over hurdles but should not fail through lack of fitness having raced very creditably in a Cheltenham bumper last month. The Paul Nicholls-trained gelding should have learned from that experience and he is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles. Alan King's Greenbridge was disappointing on his reappearance and hurdling debut at Aintree last month so looks best watched now, while Chapel Flowers has given little cause for optimism so far. Abstract Art showed ability on the level for Venetia Williams but has not been seen out since May so may be best watched on his hurdling debut and a safer bet looks to be Jonjo O'Neill's Piamontini, who gets the vote.
