In depth

Verdict

VINTAGE RALLY can take the plaudits in division one of the bumper with Anis Etoile expected to show up well again whilst Icterus is no forlorn hope. The selection was made favourite for his racecourse bow at Downpatrick but failed to live up to the market expectations and finished a well held fourth. There's every possibility that he's been found a weaker opening whilst the quicker ground is expected to suit. Anis Etoile did the job well enough at Uttoxeter but the runner-up has already let the form down so she could find life tough under a penalty. Bob Will is quite an interesting newcomer but may not come into his own until granted a stiffer test of stamina but money for any of those without a run is always of interest. Icterus ran a big race on debut although he may have been flattered by the way that the race was run. He failed to build on that next time but has to be feared in this company although preference is for Vintage Rally.
