In depth

Verdict

Companero was impressive last time out and should follow up; if the drop in trip is too much for him then it may Spitfire Sortie who comes out on top. The last-named is an interesting contender travelling over the water for this contest. He wasn't successful on his recent jaunt to this country but he may have found the ground a little lively for him then and judged on his recent Naas win he should go well. However Companero, a former winning pointer, came good on his second start under rules and is fancied to oblige again. He handles the mud well which should negate this drop in trip and with further improvement likely before going chasing next year, he could be a hard opponent to conquer today. Mister Nelson was fancied on his debut over two years ago but has obviously had plenty of problems since although he may worth keeping an eye on in the betting, whilst Manadam is a horse of some potential but he is yet to show his true worth in this country. His form in France looks decent but he is still regarded as a chaser by connections and that is where we will see him at his best. Companero though is the one to beat.
