In depth

Verdict

STAR CITY showed signs of inexperience on his debut at Carlisle, but he ran on well to take second in the closing stages, and that form is superior to anything today's rivals have shown. Michael Dods' charge looks a good thing to open his account here with normal progress. Samba Night ran well on his debut at Southwell with Professor Tim well behind and he should figure, but the newcomer My Pearl is a half-brother to four winners and could prove a bigger threat. Fellow debutant Cafe Express is also related to a couple of two-year-old winners and is worth noting.
