In depth

Verdict

Epernay made a winning reappearance in an apprentice race at Carlisle on Monday and escapes a penalty here. There should be more to come now she's got her head in front but CASINO NIGHT is just preferred. Today's apprentice rode her to victory over C&D last September, she's at her best on soft ground and her recent good form points to a big run from Barry Murtagh's mare. Spavento was winning for the first time in 30 starts at Newcastle last time and a follow-up looks unlikely, but the lightly-raced Amtaar may be capable of better on her return to action with Paul Hanagan booked.
