Verdict

It was certainly a surprise when VELOCE was beaten at Musselburgh earlier this month as he'd looked a sure-fire future winner when chasing home Poet on his hurdling debut at Newbury. The longer trip was possibly to blame and, back over 2m here, Donald McCain's novice should make in third-time lucky. Bumper winner One For Hocky has a bit of scope, despite being beaten more than 40 lengths at Kelso, and Rockawango probably needed his run at Musselburgh, his first in the UK, but has a bit to prove now. Hallmark Star often flattered to deceive on the Flat, however, and needs to step up on his Wetherby hurdling debut.
