In depth

Verdict

It must be significant that Barry Geraghty hangs around to ride RIVER MAIGUE, who is one of several point-to-point winners in this. He may have just needed the run when only third to Royal Guardsman at Ascot as he travelled strongly until the pace quickened in the straight. The winner is useful and Nicky Henderson's five-year-old should get off the mark in this finale though the yard also runs Picture Post, who started favourite when fourth at Haydock on his debut. Hexham winner Green Flag will do well to follow up that victory under a penalty but there should be more to come from Duke Of Navan, who was second to stable companion Edouard on his debut at Kelso. Bremer Bay and Ronald Gee may be best of the newcomers.
