Verdict

Not too many of these arrive here in great form and Miami Gator is the exception, however he is now being asked a serious question and he might be vulnerable to SPREAD BOY. Alan Berry's gelding was doing all of his best work at the business end at Musselburgh last month, his first run in a handicap. A 2lb drop is a plus, although he does have it to prove on this ground, but at the price he might be worth chancing. Miami Gator is clearly very much respected and he does act on the ground, though most of his winning has been in claimers and he carries a penalty today. Big Wave Bay is interesting now dropped to a trip that pedigree suggests will suit and market support would probably be significant, while connections swap cheekpieces for blinkers on Opening Nite who did not look an easy ride at Yarmouth but does at least act on the ground.
