In depth

Verdict

With the ground turning against Berberana and Boundless Spirit appearing to be thoroughly exposed this might be decided by the Richard Fahey-trained pair of Robert The Painter and ALBEN STAR. Jockey bookings would indicate that the latter, who won a fast ground Musselburgh maiden on debut three months ago, has the better chance, and as his sire Clodovil loved cut then he may well be able to improve on that effort today, making him hard to beat. His stablemate is also by the mudlark Whipper so should enjoy conditions and is respected after a recent Redcar debut success. Bellemere has claims after some good form on softer ground, though she has yet to prove herself over this trip. Serena's Pride is respected now dropped from group company, while Drawing Board also has claims, but Alben Star gets the nod.
