Verdict

An uninspiring affair where HUMBIE is a token pick to see off Solway Ally and Bled. The gelding has been tried over similar trips in the past and while his latest effort was disappointing, he has been given plenty of time off to get over any ailments that became apparent. Solway Ally finished second in a very bad race earlier in the week. His presence on the shortlist illustrates how moderate the contest actually is. Turtle Spirit is a winner of his latest start though sons of Turtle Island invariably show their better form with plenty of give underfoot. Bled is tried in first time blinkers. The yard are in form. River Music makes his first run in handicap company. He has shown little of note thus far though cannot be dismissed as an inmate of the Howard Johnson yard. Watercolours probably stays this far if her recent effort over 2m6f is anything to go by. Birch Hill Bedouin is a fine looking horse however his form has been decidedly ugly in comparison. Irish raider, Lord Multifix steps up in trip having raced ordinarily over two miles or thereabouts. Not a race that will live too long in the memory and Humbie rates as only the most tentative of picks.
