In depth

Verdict

The only three-year-old in the race, Ventura Quest, was raised 5lb for landing a Catterick handicap in October and that appears to have halted his progress. GEORGE CINQ was in very good form last summer and hasn't been beaten far in most subsequent races. He's only 1lb higher than his victory at Sandown in July under Jamie Spencer, who can steer him to another success. Le Chat D'Or has gained all three career victories on ground with some give including here in July though he's 9lb higher. Skytrain attempted to make all over 1m2f at Chester but was caught in the closing stages. He's only 1lb higher than when scoring on Polytrack in April and should give a good account. Off The Pulse won a better class handicap than this at Haydock so a 5lb rise shouldn't pose any difficulties but Tenor's two victories on Turf have come on fast ground.
