Verdict

Ocarina has improved with each start, running a decent second to Bedlam Boy at Hexham last time, and with further improvement anticipated he gets the vote to go one better here at the main expense of Mr Guppy and Frankie Figg. The last mentioned has given little real cause of optimism so far but Howard Johnson's gelding drops back in distance today which may well help his cause. Reckless Venture ran better at Newcastle last time and would have claims on that form but his earlier form leaves something to be desired. Ramsden Boy gave no real encouragement first time out, while Liz's Dream would need to improve on his debut form to trouble the judge. Mr Guppy showed some promise in bumpers and has to be considered but Ocarina looks to be going the right way and is preferred.
