In depth

Verdict

ETXALAR is an exciting recruit to fences and following his stroll in the park at Haydock he can win again; top-weight Skippers Brig may be the chief danger. Lucinda Russell also has the potentially well-handicapped Quito Du Tresor in the race who should appreciate the longer trip, however Extalar is the number one hope. He was very impressive on his chasing debut at Haydock and has been given a nice break since. He is proven on soft ground and has the scope to improve and defy this 13lb higher handicap mark. Skippers Brig is a course winner and he revels in the mud; a recent run at Bangor should have put him spot on and he looks capable of winning off this mark of 135. Flash Cummins ran well last time out at Kelso and has come back well from a lengthy period off the track, whilst Sammy Spiderman never looked happy at Carlisle last time out and this chaser needs to prove that he is still progressive after a good 12 months. An open handicap, however Etxalar can prosper.
