Verdict

A disappointing turnout for such a valuable prize and THE BETCHWORTH KID can have his day with Oasis Knight and Peppertree Lane others to make our shortlist. The selection has had a typically robust career and gained due reward with a recent win at Salisbury. Ninth in the Northumberland Plate, he probably stays the trip. Oasis Knight was third in the March Stakes at Goodwood. The form of that affair could be a little suspicious as the favourite ran no sort of race whatsoever. Peppertree Lane has had many happy days in the past. He has had a recent spell over timber and will be making his debut for Andrew Boxhall this afternoon. Electrolyser finished ahead of our selection in the Northumberland Plate. He is still on the improve though may be better with more give in the ground. Swingkeel made full use of a strong gallop to take a two miler at York. Keenes Day has not been that far away in recent staying events though will needs to have improved again. The Betchworth Kid is the pick.
