Verdict

BASQUE BEAUTY and Siyabona look the pair to concentrate on here and the vote goes to the former, who has more scope for improvement. William Haggas's filly has not been seen since a pleasing debut at Newmarket last August, but her handler is in such good form that her fitness can probably be taken on trust. Her pedigree suggests that she will enjoy fast ground and that this step up to a mile is a positive so we'll side with her. Siyabona has had a few chances already and did not handle the step up to 10f well, so the return to a mile should hopefully produce a better run. She is unraced on going this quick so far and is nothing special, so we'll take her on. Shadayid Khanum was not far away in a Brighton maiden last time out, though the race did not work out quite so well, so we'll look elsewhere, while debutante Spring Season looks of interest as one who will go well at this trip and should enjoy fast ground. Not a strong race but nevertheless intriguing and we'll take Basque Beauty to score.
