Verdict

There will almost certainly be a step up in distance for the mighty FRANKEL before the end of the season but Sir Henry Cecil's brilliant colt should continue to dominate the mile division in the interim and will start at short odds to extend his unbeaten record in this opener. He's met Excelebration, no slouch himself, on four separate occasions and has come out on top with something to spare every time, including when in need of the run on his reappearance in the Lockinge. Bullet Train will again ensure an honest gallop while Ballydoyle's Windsor Palace will share pace-making duties. The others are essentially playing for places and Strong Suit has his first start since running down the field in the Breeders' Cup Mile, though he did beat Red Jazz in a Group 2 at Goodwood last July. Side Glance had the disappointing Worthadd behind at Epsom and, back in form, he could prove best of the remainder.
