      Verdict

AFSARE is taken to take this Listed prize on his way to bigger and better things, with Quadrille and Fencing Master considered the most testing opposition. Luca Cumani's charge took second in what looked a hot Kempton maiden on debut, although the winner was held when stepping into handicap company last time. Lets not hold that against our pick though as he's done nothing but improve since, efficiently landing a maiden before trouncing Wigmore Hall when stepped up to this trip at Doncaster. One entered in the St James Palace Stakes, the feeling is Afsare will prove above Listed standard and he can show that here. Quadrille is weighted to finish upsides our pick on these terms and would be a popular winner for Her Majesty The Queen. He's no forlorn hope either having produced an impressive display last time and this step up to 1m2f for the first time should bring about more improvement from this regaly bred individual. Fencing Master is officially the best horse lining up and is respected accordingly; his rating of 116 is based on a fine Dewhurst second last season as well as a fair seventh in the 2000 Guineas on his return and Aidan O'Brien's charge is only ruled out on the grounds that in Afsare he faces a stern rival and there remain doubts about the yard's form. Film Score is a $400,000 purchase who made a winning debut, accounting for a horse placed in several Group races in the process. Strict reading of that run suggests he's a 110 horse already and there should be more to come, but perhaps a lack of experience will prove his undoing. Fair Trade was behind Fencing Master in the Guineas and looks up against it here with Alrasm a more likely threat. Michael Jarvis almost landed the Coventry Stakes on Tuesday and his charge has claims if forgiven a below-par run last time when the quick ground was probably against him. Lord Zenith surely will struggle to give the weight away and a bigger threat may be Champagne Style. Brian Meehan's charge shaped as though needing further than a mile as a juvenile and is bred to keep improving so a market check is advised, although this is a tough ask on his return. Afsare could be a cut above these and gets the vote to continue his progression.
