      Verdict

Richard Hannon has won this the last twice and has a quartet of entries this time. Trumpet Major looks to be the yard's main hope with Richard Hughes on board but all four will need to show much more than they have so far in a very strong contest. Gabrial is highly regarded by Richard Fahey and has won nicely at Chester and Beverley, two very different tracks, while Italo warmed up with a comfortable success at Longchamp and could be anything. Roman Soldier made all for an impressive victory at Leicester and will come on again while Fulbright's rider was able to ease him down in a Listed contest at Epsom on Derby Day and Mark Johnston's colt looks very useful. Power also scored in Listed company at the Curragh where the minimum trip looked too short and he'll like the extra furlong while dual winner Gatepost looked useful when beating Hamza at York, though the runner-up has since been beaten by Gabrial. Those who witnessed MEZMAAR's debut success at Haydock will have marked him down for this. Barry Hills' colt was always travelling ominously well and looked to have plenty in the locker which suggests he will prove difficult to beat here.
