    Verdict

Muthmera had proved difficult to win with until the combination of cheekpieces and hood were tried at Chester and Roger Varian's filly duly dotted up on a first foray into handicaps. She isn't easy to oppose off a 4lb higher mark but we'll take a chance about PARTY LINE being able to do so. Any Mark Johnston runner at Ascot is worth more than a cursory glance and while outclassed in the Northumberland Plate, the four-year-old has gone well at Ascot previously and is back to a winning mark. Kikonga and Miss Cap Estel were behind a useful filly at Pontefract last month although Andrew Balding's filly reopposes off better terms today. Lady Rosamunde hasn't given a great deal of encouragement this season but the grey has shown plenty of aptitude for fast ground in the past and the booking of Hayley Turner appears a positive under the circumstances.
