In depth

Verdict

Colloquial doesn't stand much racing but won over C&D last month and is capable on his day. He wouldn't want any more rain, however. Dayia has something to prove after a poor showing behind Keys over C&D last time while French import Balajo may need more time to acclimatise. La Vecchia Scuola is worth a second look, however, as last year's Cesarewitch runner-up is edging towards a decent mark again. Olivier Peslier should get a tune of out thorough stayer Hawk Mountain but this could be one for Hayley Turner and the home team with ERMYN LODGE. Pat Phelan's gelding appears pounds better here than elsewhere and a reproduction of his second in the Ascot Stakes in June would probably suffice in this.
