Stepper Point bursts through to give Martin Dwyer a welcome winner
Stepper Point (16/1) ran out a ready winner of the Listed bookmakers.co.uk Hever Sprint Stakes at Lingfield.
Martin Dwyer always had William Muir's charge in a prominent position and the pair went to the front over a furlong out.
Despite an absence from the track of 167 days, the five-year-old quickly put the race to bed and made light of his three-pound penalty to score by two lengths.
Iptisam (8/1) finished well to be second ahead of the trailblazing Even Stevens (16/1).
Ladies Are Forever, the 3/1 joint-favourite, was short of room turning in and made good late headway into fourth.
Dwyer, who was having his first ride back following a horror fall at Southwell in January, said: "My daughter said to me 'it's your first ride back and you'll win', so all thanks to Daisy. I've had three solid weeks in the gym in Oaksey House, and it's onwards and upwards."
Muir said: "He had only done one gallop and he wasn't wound up today, but we thought we'd come here and it would give us the option of coming back on Good Friday.
"Gelding him has helped, and I know people think I'm a nutter, but I've said all along that's he's a Group One horse."
