Kieren Fallon: Won aboard Prince Bishop
Prince Bishop (5-1) won the Group One Al Maktoum Challenge R3 Sponsored By Emirates Airline at Meydan under Kieren Fallon on Saturday.
The seven-year-old has been third in the race for each of the last two years but went two places better under a delighted Fallon.
A winner of the Al Maktoum Challenge R2 last time over a slightly shorter trip, the extra distance proved no barrier as he reeled in Sanshaawes (12-1) and Surfer (25-1) inside the final furlong.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained horse was the lesser fancied of his stable runners, with stablemate and favourite African Story well down the field.
"I didn't think the gap was going to come and then when I went to take it, it closed quickly, but I had the horse to get me out of trouble," said Fallon.
"He's done nothing but improve and is going from strength to strength. Hopefully he will continue improving and do well on the big night (Dubai World Cup meeting).
"I wanted to be closer, but he was in the stalls for a long time and got a little bit restless. I put a hood on him to try to keep him calm.
"They went a good gallop for the first furlong then eased it up going round the turn, but I had the horse so I was lucky."
