David Simcock: Trains Whispering Warrior

Whispering Warrior had to work hard to land the Ladbrokes Lincoln Trial Handicap at Wolverhampton.

David Simcock's five-year-old produced a determined performance to see off his rivals in the valuable class two contest over an extended mile.

There were half a dozen rivals spread across the track in the straight, all within a couple of lengths of each other but Jim Crowley persuaded the 11/2 chance to produce one final surge to see of the challenge of Tellovoi and Party Royal.

Crowley explained afterwards: "I had a nice trip around. This is the first time he has run here and he needed every yard of the trip.

"I felt he was nicely on top at the finish. David (Simcock) was quite hopeful as last week blew away the cobwebs.

"Whispering Warrior is nice progressive horse and hopefully it will be onwards and upwards during the summer. He seems quite versatile as regards ground."
