Shea Shea: An impressive display

Shea Shea: An impressive display

Shea Shea put up a scintillating display under a great ride from Christophe Soumillon as he lifted the Group Three Meydan Sprint for the second successive year.

Soumillon took a gamble as he switched Mike de Kock's speedster from stall six in the centre of the course to the near-side rail.

The run saw Shea Shea (6-4 favourite) storm to the lead which he just held to the line by a head after Charlie Appleby's Ahtoug came with a late charge.

Dux Scholar was third with Eddie Lynam's Sole Power a staying-on fourth.

De Kock said: "He's still got a fair bit to come. Had he run second or third I'd have been disappointed because I know he's still got a bit to come.

"Last year first up (in January 2013) he wasn't sighted, so I was a bit worried about that but with horses like him, you shouldn't really get worried.

"They do it for you and make you look good. Exactly what came through was his class."
