On His Own: An impressive round of jumping at Fairyhouse

On His Own continued his recent resurgence with victory in Fairyhouse's Grade 2 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase.

Willie Mullins' 10-year-old won his second Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park last month and he was to prove himself capable of stepping up into Graded company with an impressive display of fencing on this occasion.

Despite being initially taken on for the lead by Roi Du Mee, he was literally left on his own infront as Gordon Elliott's horse made a series of jumping errors and Ruby Walsh was to make the most of the opportunity to turn the screw.

Joint topweight, Mount Benbulben and Buckers Bridge attempted to go with the winner and though the former was brought to challenge by Danny Mullins with two to jump, he could not bridge the gap as the winner's jumping held firm under scrutiny.

Former Irish Grand National winner, Lion Na Bearnai was a remote fourth as none of the three Gigginstown runners completed the course.

Mullins said of the Graham Wylie-owned winner: "He's a natural jumper, coming off a hard race in the Thyestes I thought that was a magnificent performance.

"After that we might have to rethink about Aintree, I was quite keen after the Thyestes but now we might look at the Bibby Gold Cup at Punchestown.

"We'll have a chat with Mr Wylie, I think he's after taking a jump in grade after that. I was thinking that in the stands and funnily enough that was the first thing Ruby said to me when he came back in.

"He's just going out of handicaps and could win a really good race.
