Ivan Grozny earned Triumph Hurdle quotes
Ivan Grozny (8/13 favourite) stepped up on his promising run when second on his jumps debut to strike by 12 lengths under Ruby Walsh in the opening Book Hospitality On Line Maiden Hurdle at Naas in the colours of Graham and Andrea Wylie.
The winner was later introduced into the betting for the JCB Triumph Hurdle by some firms while Sky Bet cut him to 20/1 from 25s.
Ruby Walsh said: "He has improved a hell of a lot, especially in his jumping, from Leopardstown. The ground wouldn't be what he wants but he certainly improved a lot.
"When he got the gap before the last he quickened up in a few strides and I thought he was pretty impressive."
Sky Bet spokesman Michael Shinners said: "He'll obviously need to improve on what he's done to date but he could do no more than win.
"He boasts some very smart Flat form in France, he's joined top connections and it would be no surprise to see him develop into a live contender at the spring festivals."
The closing race on the card, the Tipper Road (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race, also went to Willie Mullins with the trainer's son, Patrick, guiding Killultagh Vic (4/9 favourite) to land the odds.
County Wexford trainer Liz Doyle also grabbed a 254/1 brace with Glen Beg (33/1) in the Happy Birthday Dixie Reilly Handicap Hurdle and Reality Dose (13/2) in the Cheltenham Trial Day 23rd February Handicap Chase.
