Taquin Du Seuil: Easy winner at Haydock

Taquin Du Seuil had no trouble landing the Racing Post Celebrates 200,000 Social Followers Novices' Chase at Haydock.

With Gevrey Chambertin taken out on Friday afternoon and his only other serious rival, O'Faolains Boy, pulling up in the back straight, on the figures he should have won the Grade Two exactly as he did.

Tony McCoy was careful not to ask Jonjo O'Neill's seven-year-old any serious questions, but the 8-11 favourite still made a mess of the second-last before pulling 17 lengths clear of Coverholder.

"That was just the job, although with his obvious danger pulling up early I'm not sure what he achieved," said O'Neill.

"He can only do as he did and he jumped well apart from the second-last.

"He loved the conditions and is just a good horse - we're still learning about him with every run.

"We'll put him in all three race at Cheltenham (Arkle, JLT and RSA) and he might run in the Scilly Isles at Sandown (February 1) next."

Sky Bet cut the winner to 8/1 from 10/1 for the JLT Novice Chase at Cheltenham in March and representative Michael Shinners said: "We've left Taquin unchanged for the RSA Chase but gone 8/1 from 10s for the JLT.

"The race may not have taken too much winning as O'Faolains Boy clearly didn't run his race but Jonjo O'Neill's charge had already shown high-class form and is very much one to be respected for the JLT, which looks the better of the two options.

"He seemed to love to heavy going at Haydock but we know he handles a better surface as he won on good ground at the start of the season."
