Reblis and Joshua Moore take the honours
The father-and-son team of Gary and Joshua Moore joined forces to claim Plumpton's At The Races Sussex National with Reblis.
Stablemate Well Refreshed came up with the goods in 2013, with dual course winner Reblis among the leading contenders at 5/1 for this season's renewal.
Plenty had cried enough as they headed down the back straight, but Moore's inmate was still going along nicely and took over the running from Monkerty Tunkerty.
Champion jockey Tony McCoy did his best to get 7/2 favourite Smoking Aces into the race and he briefly looked a threat.
Ultimately, however, Reblis was not for catching and passed the post with four and a half lengths in hand to record his third course success.
A delighted trainer told At The Races: "I was just slightly concerned that he went up by 9lbs but thank god Josh still claims 3lbs just to help him and when I saw he had under 11st I thought he had every chance. He loves soft ground, he goes on the track and stays forever."
This was Plan A executed and Moore is not in a rush to determine future running plans.
"My job's done now I don't care," he laughed, "I've won two races with him and one valuable one so we can wait and see what the handicapper does a week Tuesday and then try and plan something from there.
"The Midlands National is in the back of my mind; four miles around Uttoxeter would suit him and you generally get soft ground there. He does need soft ground, he's not a fast horse but he grounds it out well."
Moore, who enjoyed plenty of success at Plumpton as a jockey and has continued to do so as a trainer, added: "I love Plumpton, I was brought up here and it's nice to have winners here, it's nice to have winners anywhere but especially at Plumpton."
