Miss France (right) and Lightning Thunder come together close home
Champion French trainer Andre Fabre raided the Oh So Sharp Stakes as Miss France scored under Mickael Barzalona.
With favourite Radiator failing to find much for pressure once James Doyle asked her to quicken up and get after early leader Sleepy Sioux, it was left to Miss France and Lightning Thunder to fight out the finish to the Group Three contest.
Lightining Thunder stuck on bravely despite drifting left throughout the final furlong and a half, but when the pair came together a few strides before the winning post it appeared more the fault of the 7/2 winner than the runner-up.
However after a brief stewards' enquiry, the results were left to remain unchanged.
"She just has a lot of class - she's different class," said Barzalona.
"We went a nice pace and quickened early. Everything I asked her to do she did very easily on the bridle.
"It's job done today. I think she's a great filly."
Anthony Stroud, representing owners Ballymore Thoroughbred Ltd, added: "She's a very nice filly and I don't think she'll run again this season."
In victory, Miss France gained a quote of 16/1 for next year's 1000 Guineas from Sky Bet.
Spokesman Michael Shinners commented: "She was very impressive in the way that she travelled and could be a serious player in next year's 1000 Guineas."
Olly Stevens wasn't too disheartened with the defeat of his previously unbeaten runner-up.
He said: "I'm disappointed but not overly so - she's still a good filly. We will consider the Rockfel and she is in the (Prix Jean-Luc) Lagerdere.
"We are not worried about racing her against the colts - she beat them in a conditions race. I'd quite happily put her away for the winter as well."
