Caucus: Gets back to winning ways under William Buick
Caucus repeated his victory of 12 months ago in the Listed Jockey Club Rose Bowl at Newmarket.
John Gosden's six-year-old had to carry a 3lb penalty into this race but it made no difference to the outcome on this occasion as he ran out a comfortable winner under William Buick.
The race was staged at a very steady pace for the majority of contest as Statutory controlled things from the front having overhauled Sabor A Triunfo in the dash for the lead.
Buick kept his horse wide of the pacesetters throughout, and having seen the race predictably quicken, he delivered the 15/8 favourite up the far rail with a furlong to go, and they soon had the measure of their rivals.
Statutory kept on gamely for second as Body Language stayed on from a long way back to see off Model Pupil for third.
"He ran well in the Lonsdale and it's nice to see him win this again," said Gosden.
"He's in the race at Ascot (QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup) and that looks the logical place to go."
