Hayley Turner: On target in feature race at York
Hallelujah came out on top in a thrilling finish to the Listed Betfred Garrowby Stakes at York.
Hayley Turner partnered James Fanshawe's 7/1 winner who was involved in a three-way war with Ladies Are Forever (6/1) and Mince inside the final furlong.
The trio could hardly be separated as they flashed past the post together but it was Turner and her willing partner who got the verdict.
It came as no surprise to hear they only had a nose in hand of the runner-up with 7/2 favourite Mince a further head back in third.
Lighting Cloud and Hitchens were close up in fourth and fifth in a pulsasting finish.
Turner was riding her second winner since returning from a broken ankle and thought she'd just edged the verdict. She told Racing UK: "I had an inkling and usually when you think you've won - you have. I was quietly confident.
"James' horses have been flying and Hallelujah deserved to win another big one. I rode the race to suit her. She broke well and it suits her better when she's off the bridle and you're niggling away. I got a nice lead off William Buick and Nocturn and it worked out perfectly in the end."
