Ascription clears away from his rivals at Goodwood
Ascription (7/1jf) was a ready winner of the Poker At bet365 Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
Hugo Palmer's four-year-old hadn't been seen on the racecourse for 74 days before taking this engagement at Goodwood, and having been gelded in the interim, he appeared to realise plenty of improvement for the operation.
Albaqaa attempted to tough it out from the front but he merely set the race up for the winner who went into a definite lead with over a furlong to go and never looked like coming back to his rivals.
A delighted trainer told Racing UK: "It's a real thrill to have a big win at this meeting. He's always been very keen in his races but he's calmed down. He's had to have his ground and when's he got it he's shown it."
"He's in at Thirsk on Saturday and Chester on Sunday and we'll think about it."
Jack's Revenge travelled well enough throughout but was unable to realise the same speed as the winner as Albaqaa held on from Democretes for third.
