Montiridge: A comfortable winner
Montiridge made just about every yard of the running to win the Listed Insure Pink Stubbs Stakes at Newmarket.
With no obvious pace angle in the race, Richard Hughes opted to ensure a decent tempo aboard the 4/7 favourite and never looked in danger as he strode out for a comfortable success.
Ashdan (100/30) briefly drew alongside and may even have edged in front just over a furlong from home but while his rider William Buick was low in the saddle, Hughes exuded confidence.
A shake of the reins was all that was required and Montiridge was value for further than the two lengths he had in hand at the line, with Ashdan just getting the better of Alhebayeb in the battle for second and Fantastic Moon well beaten in last of four.
