Legacy Gold (left) powers away from her rivals at Aintree
Legacy Gold (9/1) won the closing John Smith's Mares' Standard Open NH Flat Race at Aintree on Friday.
Stuart Crawford's mare was always going well and she bounded clear inside the final furlong to win by four lengths.
Jessica Harrington's Cailin Annamh (8/1) finished second with Robert Walford's Carole's Spirit (11/1) third.
Winning jockey Stephen Crawford said: "I think they went pretty quick, she switches off and you need to just sit. I picked them off and I got there too soon, I actually didn't quicken to get to the front. She's not big but she's just proved size is irrelevant.
"It feels good, these days don't come around very often so you have to soak it up."
