My Tent Or Yours: Very impressive winner
My Tent Or Yours ran out an emphatic winner of the Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle, the most valuable handicap hurdle in the UK.
Tony McCoy had to abandon plans of getting a helicopter from Warwick to Newbury but his journey proved to be more than worthwhile as his mount made light work of the opposition.
Always handy off a strong early gallop, he merely had to push out the Desert Prince gelding to record a convincing victory.
Cotton Mill travelled every bit as well as the winner though could not muster the finishing speed in the closing stages.
Swing Bowler was far from disgraced in third having chased the early gallop as Dark Lover and Petit Robin filled the fourth and fifth places respectively.
The bookmakers were quick to revise their quotes ahead of the Cheltenham Festival and the JP McManus owned six-year-old has been made 9/4 favourite for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle by Sky Bet having been available at 8/1 prior to the contest.
The yard lost leading Champion Hurdle candidate, Darlan, earlier in the week and talk of a bid at that showpiece event was not dismissed out of hand by the trainer.
Henderson remarked: "I hadn't thought about it. Obviously he's in the Supreme and that looks the obvious one.
Tony McCoy paid tribute to both horse and owner following the race.
The champion said:" To win a handicap off 149 is a good performance. He's a good horse, I thought that the first day I sat on him. I schooled him and I said to Nicky that there's only one thing wrong with this horse - he's in the wrong colours.
"I recommended to the boss to get him. I've never had a horse pull as hard as him the first day I rode him.
"It has been a tough week for (McManus). He loves nothing more than bringing them back home and the one thing you are told is you don't abuse them. He lost Darlan and Like-A-Butterfly, who was a family pet, so this is good for them."
