Tom Doyle: Brilliant ride
The Oliver McKiernan trained Whatuthink (25/1) posted a sensational upset when making all in the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan.
Voler La Vedette had won the race last year and Colm Murphy's mare was put in at odds of 1/7 for the Grade 2 contest following the defection of likely second favourite, So Young, in the morning.
The eight-year-old was making her seasonal reappearance and was held up in rear in the early stages of the contest as Tom Doyle sent Whatuthink along at a steady pace.
The ten-year-old had been tailed off over fences just ten days earlier but he was certainly not lacking for fitness having won at Down Royal on the flat over 1m6f during the summer.
Doyle asked his mount to quicken as he booted him into the fourth last and addressed with him with whip at the next.
Voler La Vedette had been cruising in behind and began to take closer order at that flight but the warning signs for her short-price backers as Andrew Lynch started to encourage her soon after and she found far less than anticipated.
The winner plugging on gamely to gain a deserved victory by four-and-a-half lengths.
The pair were well clear of third-placed Prima Vista.
