Telescope: Got off the mark at Newmarket
Telescope is 16-1 for the Investec Derby with Sky Bet after winning the British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing E.B.F. Maiden Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
Sir Michael Stoute's charge had shaped well on his debut at Ascot and was sent off the 8-13 favourite here.
His supporters had few anxious moments as RIchard Hughes tracked the trailblazing Space Ship before going to the front over a furlong out.
The son of Galileo stretched out well to score by two-and-a-quarter lengths from Elkaayed (11-2) who ran with plenty of promise in second. Excellent Result (16-1) was third on his debut for Godolphin.
"He's a big horse with lots of scope,. He has run two very promising races and as he's out of a Darshaan mare by Galileo, he should get further," said the winning trainer.
"I don't know if you'll see him again this year. He's in the Racing Post Trophy, but I wouldn't commit myself to that.''
