Fulbright: On target in feature race at Sandown

Fulbright: On target in feature race at Sandown

Fulbright justified favouritism in the John Dunlop Fortune Stakes at Sandown - but it wasn't without a scare.

The 6-4 market leader tracked the pace-making Tazahum (7-4) throughout the contest and they had the race between them throughout.

Silvestre de Sousa took the eventual winner to the front passing the two furlong marker but under a left-hand drive, he drifted right and bumped the runner-up who was rallying at the time.

A neck separated the pair at the line and although he kept the race in the stewards room, de Sousa was hit with a three-day ban.

Gabrial never managed to land a blow in third with Theladyinquestion last of four.

"He's been on the go all year and just seems to get better and better. He has a lot of entries and the next step will be his transition into Group races. He's seems in such good heart, thrives on his racing, I can see no reason why he won't run at least once more this season," winning trainer Mark Johnston told Racing UK.
