Olympic Glory just gets up
Olympic Glory came with a late burst under Richard Hughes to win the Veuve Clicquot Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
The Choisir colt had to concede 3lbs to the field following his Group 2 win at Newmarket last time but it mattered ot as he got up in the final strides to land the spoils.
He didn't handle the track rounding the turn and his run was checked in the straight, making his victory all the more meritorious.
Sky Bet were impressed enough to cut him to 16-1 from 20s for the 2000 Guineas.
Hughes said: "The horse got me out of trouble, he just wasn't turning around the bend, he was hanging badly left and I didn't think he was going to turn.
"They got racing really early so I let him find his feet and he actually started running straight with me rather than trying to hold him in and then he took off.
"I thought at the two I'd get there but then Paul switched his (Ghurair) and that just stopped my run but then he was always going to get there.
"He's a good horse to win this with a penalty."
