Field Of Dream and Richard Hughes come home ahead

Jamie Osborne's Field Of Dream swept from last to first to win the Betfair Summer Double International Stakes at Ascot.

The 25-1 chance was a fast-finishing fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup over a mile before finishing unplaced at Sandown last time but was right back on the top of his game under a masterful ride from Richard Hughes.

He bided his time at the back of the big field before unleashing his mount with a tremendous turn of foot towards the stands' side to get up close home and score by half-a-length.

It was tough luck on runner-up Edinburgh Knight who looked to have been produced perfectly as Bertiewhittle and Global Village filled the frame.

Hughes said: "He was good today - he was in a good frame of mind. "They went very fast and I was at the back just fiddling along.

"I passed three horses and he came on the bridle."

Drop in weights

Osborne said: "He's slipped down the handicap and he was an unlucky loser in the Hunt Cup.

"I made an error running him on soft ground at Sandown and the ground drying out here has suited him.

"He's a Listed winner, so he has a bit of class. He's in the big mile handicap at Goodwood (Betfred Mile), but he's got a penalty now, so we'll have to have a think.

"He's just won a £100,000 race and he cost a lot less than that."
