Wachman: Trains Duntle
Duntle struck another blow for Ireland with a determined success in the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot.
Sent off the 4-1 favourite for David Wachman and Wayne Lordan, she was brought through to challenge Arsaadi two furlongs out and looked set to go on and win impressively.
However, to the credit of William Haggas' filly, Arsaadi kept on battling away and only went down by half a length at the finish.
Richard Fahey's Ladys First deserves plenty of credit in third as she raced for the second half of the race mostly on her own on the far side.Wachman said: "She won her maiden by 18 lengths so we knew she had plenty of ability.
"We wanted to run her in the Guineas but she'd had two quick runs so we decided to come here instead.
"It's great for the family (Niarchos owners), they bought her two runs back.
"She'll probably go to America now and I'll speak to Alan Cooper (racing manager) to decide where she goes before then.
"She's a smart filly and has always shown us plenty, she's got Group One entries."
