Kumbeshar (r): Impressive start to his career over fences
Kumbeshwar made a sparkling chasing debut in the attheraces.com Hugh Taylor Tipping Novices' Chase at Hereford on Wednesday.
Alan King's charge was a useful juvenile hurdler last term and fenced well here, cutting out the early pace alongside U B Carefull.
When that rival fell away seven out he found himself in front but while the chasing pack tried to close him down after the fourth last, Robert Thornton had merely given Alan King's charge a breather.
The 13-8 favourite proceeded to bound clear again, slamming the strong-travelling Royale's Charter (7-1) by eight lengths.
Escort'men looked a potential threat until finding very little when let down after the third last.
"He's always been a keen-going sort and it felt like he jumped very well. We got a little tight to the second last but I let him do what he wanted to do," the jockey told At The Races.
"He's only four but is a big, strong horse and he'll get further if we have to. It was a pleasing debut."
Sky Bet introduced the winner to their Arkle market at 33-1.
